ISSF 25 METRE PISTOL

Formerly known as Sport Pistol, the 25m Pistol event was introduced in the 1960s. Internationally the 25m Pistol event is only shot up to and including the Olympics by women, and up to and including the Paralympics by men and women, and by juniors at the World Championships. In Australia the event is also shot by men at many State competitions.

The 25m Pistol event is identical as the 25m Centrefire Pistol event other than being for .22LR handguns only. As per the centrefire event this event combines 2-stages, a precision stage and a rapid-fire stage, each of 30 shots.

PISTOL: Any revolver or self-loading pistol except a single shot pistol.

CALIBRE: .22 long rifle rimfire

PISTOL SPECIFICS:
• Overall weight less than 1400g
• Minimum trigger pull 1000g.
• Maximum sight radius 220mm
• Barrel length less than 153mm
• Must fit into box of 300mm x 150mm x 50mm

COURSE OF FIRE
    Precision Stage
• 30 shots, in six series of 5 shots, each series is 5 minutes
• Target: ISSF 25/50m Precision target

After all competitors have completed the Precision Stage, they then fire the Rapid Fire Stage.

Rapid Fire Stage
• 30 shots, in six series of 5 shots (5 exposures of the target for 3 seconds)
• Target: ISSF 25m Rapid fire target

COMPETITION:
The top 8 contestants having the highest scores progress on to the final, which consists of two stages. After the first stage of five, additional rapid fire stage series of 5 shots each, four of the top scoring finalists then compete for medal contention.
