REVOLVER

The SSAA revolver match is intended to offer a challenging & active sport which will test the capacity of the competitor and their equipment.  The event is single or double-handed using whatever revolver the shooter chooses.  The shooter engages targets at 50, 25, 15 and 10m positions in timed shooting series on varying targets.

PISTOL: Any single or double action rimfire or centrefire revolver including Service & WA1500 type revolvers.

PISTOL SPECIFICS:
There are two different classes of revolvers for both Rimfire and Centrefire guns.

  • Rimfire:
    Shall consist of a metallic sight class with a maximum barrel length of 6 inches and an unrestricted class which allows longer barrels and optic sights (other than those that project an image on the target such as laser sights).
  • Centrefire:
    Shall consist of a metallic sight class with a maximum barrel length of 6 Inches and an unrestricted class which allows longer barrels and optic sights (other than those that project an image on the target such as laser sights).

RESTRICTIONS – both classes:

  • No palm shelf or orthopaedic type grips that provide support to the hand or wrist.
  • No compensators or ported barrels permitted.
  • Triggers – There shall be no restriction on the weight of the trigger pull provided it functions safely and as originally intended. Trigger shoes or extensions of any kind are not permitted to protrude beyond the dimensions of the trigger guard.

AMMUNITION:

  • .22 Long Rifle only for rimfire.
  • Maximum of .38 calibre ammunition  for centrefire

TARGET :
• Various as below:

COURSE OF FIRE:  60-shot match as follows,

  • 1st stage (50m): 50M Precision event, 10 shots in 8 minutes using any field position on the 50m Black Powder target.
  • 2nd stage (25m): 25M Precision event, 10 shots in 8 minutes from the offhand position on the International slow fire target.
  • 3rd stage (15m) : Timed fire, 2 strings of 5-shots, targets facing for 3 seconds x 5 exposures on the Rabbit target.
  • 4th stage (15m): Rapid fire, 2 strings of 5-shots, in 10 seconds repeated on the Fox target.
  • 5th stage (10m): 5 TARGET EVENT, 2 strings of 5-shots in 10 seconds, 1 shot per Fox head repeated on the 5 Fox head target.
  • 6th stage (10m): 10M RAPID FIRE, 2 strings of 5-shots in 10 seconds repeated on the Bear target.

SCORING: Maximum possible score is 600.

GRADING :
RIMFIRE   &   CENTREFIRE
550 – 600            AA Grade
500 – 549              A Grade
450 – 499              B Grade
0 – 499                  C Grade

To qualify for the next grade these scores must be shot three times.
